The New Testament (27 books) divides into four: the Gospels (Matthew–John), History (Acts), the Pauline Epistles (Romans–Philemon), the General Epistles (Hebrews–Jude), and Prophecy (Revelation).
The KJV Bible contains 1,189 chapters and 31,102 verses. The longest book by chapter count is Psalms (150). The shortest books by chapter count are Obadiah, Philemon, 2 John, 3 John, and Jude (one chapter each). The longest chapter is Psalm 119; the shortest is Psalm 117 — which is also the middle chapter of the Bible. The Bible was originally written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek; the King James translation was completed between 1604 and 1611.
The standard Protestant Bible has 66 books — 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament. Catholic Bibles add 7 deuterocanonical books (the Apocrypha). The original 1611 King James Bible printed 14 Apocryphal books as a separate section between the testaments.
