Calls to worship
Read one aloud to open the service. Short is better than long; the point is to turn the room toward God before anything else is said.
O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
Psalm 95:6-7 (KJV)Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Benedictions
Speak the blessing over the congregation rather than praying it — the biblical pattern is a word given to the people, not a request made on their behalf.
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

What is a call to worship?
A short passage of Scripture read at the start of a service to gather the congregation's attention on God. Psalm 95, Psalm 100, and Psalm 122 are the most commonly used.
What Bible verses are good for a benediction?
Numbers 6:24-26 (the Aaronic blessing), 2 Corinthians 13:14, Hebrews 13:20-21, and Jude 1:24-25 are the four most widely used KJV benedictions.
What is a responsive reading?
A passage read aloud in alternating parts — usually the leader reading one verse and the congregation reading the next. Psalms 23, 100, and 121 are traditional choices.
