All Saints' Day Bible Verses & Readings (KJV)
All Saints' Day remembers the whole company of believers — not a short list of the famous, but everyone in Christ, living and departed. Below are the King James readings, what Scripture means by "saint," and printables for remembrance services.
The All Saints' Day readings
Revelation 7:9-17 — a great multitude which no man could number, out of all nations. Hebrews 11:32-12:2 — the cloud of witnesses. Matthew 5:1-12 — the Beatitudes, the character of those the Bible calls blessed. Psalm 34 as the psalm of the day.
Read Revelation 7 last if the service includes remembrance of the recently departed; it ends with God wiping away all tears from their eyes.
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight."Hebrews 12:1 (KJV) — read in context
"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues."Revelation 7:9 (KJV) — read in context
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death."Revelation 21:4 (KJV) — read in context

What the Bible means by "saint"
Paul writes to the saints at Corinth, at Ephesus, at Philippi — ordinary, struggling, sometimes badly behaved congregations. The word means set apart, not perfected. Every believer is a saint in the New Testament's usage.
That is what makes All Saints' Day a family remembrance rather than a hall of fame: it names the grandmother who prayed, the deacon who set out chairs, the friend who was baptised late in life.
