Ascension Day Bible Verses & Readings (KJV)
Forty days after the resurrection, Jesus was taken up. Ascension Day is the most under-preached feast in the calendar and one of the most consequential. Below are the King James readings, a short devotional, and printables.
The Ascension Day readings
Acts 1:1-11 is the primary account — the promise of the Spirit, the commission, the cloud, and the two men in white apparel. Luke 24:44-53 gives the same event from the Gospel side, ending with the disciples returning to Jerusalem with great joy. Ephesians 1:15-23 explains the throne He went to.
Psalm 47 and Psalm 110 are the traditional psalms — both read as coronation texts.

Why the ascension matters
The disciples do not grieve a second departure. Luke says they returned with great joy — because the ascension is not an absence but an enthronement. Christ is not gone; He is seated, and He intercedes.
It also sets the clock running toward Pentecost. Ten days later the Spirit falls. The church exists in the space the ascension opened.
