The Whole Armor of God
Paul's armor of God in Ephesians 6 — six pieces every believer puts on by faith to stand in the evil day.
Ephesians 6:10-18 gives the most detailed picture of the believer's spiritual equipment. Each piece corresponds to a truth of the gospel applied by faith. Notice the verbs: stand, withstand, stand. The armor is not for charging an enemy God has already defeated — it is for standing your ground.

Do I need to physically put something on?

Why is the sword the only offensive weapon?
Because Scripture is sufficient. Jesus defeated Satan in the wilderness by quoting the written Word three times. We don't need new revelations — we need to know and wield what God has already said.
