Shoes of the Gospel of Peace (Ephesians 6:15)
The shoes of the gospel give the believer firm footing in the peace of Christ and readiness to carry that peace into the world.
A Roman soldier's hobnailed sandals gave him grip in any terrain. Paul says the believer's footing is 'the preparation of the gospel of peace' (Ephesians 6:15). Echoing Isaiah 52:7, our feet are made ready not merely to stand, but to move — bringing the good tidings of peace wherever we go.
What Scripture Teaches
- 1Gives stability in spiritual conflict (Ephesians 6:15)
- 2The gospel is the foundation of inner peace (Romans 5:1)
- 3Beautiful are the feet that bring good news (Isaiah 52:7, Romans 10:15)
- 4Readiness to share is part of the armor (1 Peter 3:15)
- 5Peace with God produces boldness in battle (Philippians 4:6-7)
Key KJV Scriptures

Why It Matters
Christians are not just defenders — we are messengers. The gospel that gives us peace is the same gospel we carry to others, and that readiness itself is armor against fear.
Application for Today
Stand on the gospel daily — peace with God settled at the cross. Then move: be ready to give an answer for the hope that is in you (1 Peter 3:15) with gentleness and respect.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is sharing the gospel 'armor'?
A heart settled in the gospel of peace cannot be unsettled by fear. Readiness to speak keeps us anchored in the truth that saved us.
Do I have to evangelize to be 'wearing the shoes'?
The posture is readiness, not a quota. Live ready, speak gladly when God opens the door, and walk peaceably with all men (Romans 12:18).
