The Whole Armor of God: Sunday School Lesson
Ephesians 6:10–18
Big Idea
Christians fight a real spiritual battle, but the whole armor of God makes us able to stand.
Story Summary
The Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Ephesus telling Christians to be strong in the Lord. He pictured the believer as a soldier who wears God's own armor: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet shod with the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God — held together by praying always.

- Who is the Christian's real enemy?
Teacher hint: Not other people — the devil and spiritual wickedness (Ephesians 6:12).
- Why do we need 'the whole armor'?
Teacher hint: Every piece is needed; missing one leaves us open to attack.
- What is the only offensive weapon listed?
Teacher hint: The sword of the Spirit — the word of God (Ephesians 6:17).
- What does the shield of faith stop?
Teacher hint: All the fiery darts of the wicked — doubts and lies (Ephesians 6:16).
- Why is prayer mentioned right after the armor?

Craft Idea: Paper Armor of God
Supplies
- Card stock cut into 6 small shapes: belt, breastplate, shoes, shield, helmet, sword
- Crayons or markers
- A larger paper figure of a child
- An Ephesians 6:11 label
Steps
- Color each piece of armor and label it (truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, word of God).
- Glue each piece in place on the paper child.
- On the back, write a one-line prayer asking God for help to stand.
- Stick the Ephesians 6:11 label at the bottom — recite it together before going home.

- Wrap-up (5 min): Hand out the worksheet to finish at home and recite the memory verse one last time.
