    2 Kings 2

    Elijah Taken to Heaven

Elisha refused to leave Elijah's side, walking with him from Gilgal to Bethel to Jericho to Jordan. Elijah struck the water with his mantle and they crossed over on dry ground. Then a chariot of fire and horses of fire parted them, and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven — and his mantle fell to Elisha.

How this week's lesson is chosen

Palm Sunday, Easter, Ascension, Pentecost, Christmas, New Year and Thanksgiving weekend always land on the matching Bible story. Every other Sunday rotates through the whole library, so a class that keeps coming back works steadily from Genesis through the book of Acts.
