Big Idea
Jesus crosses every barrier to reach one thirsty heart.
Story Summary
Tired from His journey, Jesus sat by Jacob's well and asked a Samaritan woman for a drink — something no Jewish teacher was expected to do. He spoke to her about living water, told her everything she had ever done, and revealed that He was the Christ. She left her waterpot and brought her whole city to meet Him.
Memory Verse (KJV)
“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst.”
John 4:14
Discussion Questions
- Why was the woman surprised that Jesus spoke to her?
Teacher hint: The Jews had no dealings with the Samaritans (John 4:9).
- What is the 'living water' Jesus offered?
- What did she leave behind when she ran to the city?
- Who is someone others avoid that you could be kind to?
