Noah's Ark: Sunday School Lesson
Genesis 6–9
Big Idea
God keeps His promises, and He saves those who trust and obey Him.
Story Summary
When the world was full of sin, God chose Noah — the one man who walked with Him — and told him to build a great ark. Noah obeyed, even though it had never rained before. God brought two of every animal, shut the door Himself, and sent the flood. After the waters dried, God set a rainbow in the sky as His promise to never again flood the whole earth.

Discussion Questions
- Why did God ask Noah to build the ark?
Teacher hint: Because the earth was full of violence and Noah was a just man who walked with God (Gen 6:9, 6:13).
- How do you think Noah felt when people laughed at him for building a boat on dry land?
- What does it mean to 'obey God' even when it's hard or makes no sense to others?
- Who shut the door of the ark — Noah or God? Why does that matter?
Teacher hint: The LORD shut him in (Gen 7:16). Our salvation is God's work, not ours.
- What does the rainbow remind us about God?
Teacher hint: He always keeps His promises.
Craft Idea: Paper-Plate Rainbow Promise
Supplies
- One paper plate (cut in half) per child
- Cotton balls
- Strips of colored paper or crayons (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
- Glue stick
- A small label with Genesis 9:13
Steps
- Give each child half a paper plate (the rainbow shape).
- Glue colored paper strips or color rainbow stripes across the curve.
- Glue cotton balls on each end as clouds.
- Stick the Genesis 9:13 label on the back so they can read it at home all week.

- Welcome (5 min): Pray, then read the memory verse aloud three times together.
- Story (10 min): Tell the story summary in your own words; open a KJV to Genesis 6–9.
- Discussion (10 min): Walk through the questions above. Let every child answer at least once.
- Craft (15 min): Make the paper-plate rainbow promise.
- Wrap-up (5 min): Hand out the worksheet to finish at home and recite the memory verse one last time.
