For parents: the Bible account and full story
Daniel 6:23 says no harm was found on Daniel “because he believed in his God.” The end of the chapter includes a sterner judgement on his accusers, left out here for young children.

A sneaky law
Some jealous men tricked the king into making a law: for thirty days, no one could pray to anyone except the king. Anyone who did would be thrown to the lions.
Daniel keeps praying
Daniel knew about the law, but he still went home, knelt down and prayed and gave thanks to God, just as he always did.
Into the den
The king was very sad, but he had to keep his law. Daniel was put into the den of lions. The king said, “Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.”
Safe in the morning
Early in the morning the king hurried to the den. Daniel called out, “My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths.” Daniel was safe, and the king praised God.
We can keep trusting and praying to God every day.
When can you talk to God, like Daniel did?
Dear God, thank you that we can pray to you anytime. Help us be brave and faithful like Daniel. Amen.
