    A hundred sheep

Jesus told a story about a shepherd who had a hundred sheep. He knew each one, and he looked after them all.

    One is missing

One day, one little sheep wandered away and was lost. Ninety-nine sheep were safe, but one was missing, and it mattered very much to the shepherd.

    Looking everywhere

The shepherd left the ninety-nine and went out to look for the lost sheep. He searched over the hills until he found it.

    Found at last

When he found it, the shepherd gently lifted the sheep onto his shoulders. He was full of joy as he carried it home.

    Joy at home

He called his friends and neighbours together and said, “Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.” Jesus said there is joy in heaven over one sinner that repenteth.

God welcomes us when we turn back to him.

Why did the shepherd look for just one sheep?

Dear God, thank you for your love. Help us turn to you and care about others. Amen.
