Read Genesis 6–9 in the KJVNoah builds the ark
God told Noah that a great flood was coming. He told Noah to build an ark of wood. Noah did everything God commanded him.
Rain and water
Noah, his family and the animals went into the ark, and God shut them in. Rain fell for forty days and forty nights, and the ark floated on the water.
Safe inside
Inside the ark, Noah and the animals waited for the water to go down. God remembered Noah and every living thing that was with him in the ark.
The dove returns
Noah sent out a dove. In the evening it came back with an olive leaf in its mouth. Then Noah knew the waters were going down.
A promise in the sky
God told Noah to leave the ark. Noah worshipped God. God promised never again to destroy every living creature with a flood, and he set his rainbow in the cloud as the sign.
God remembers his people and keeps his promises.
Why do you think waiting was hard for Noah?
Dear God, help us trust you while we wait. Thank you for your faithfulness. Amen.
