What does the Bible say about victory over sin?

Sin is a defeated enemy, but it doesn't always feel that way. The daily battle is real, but Scripture declares that believers are no longer slaves to sin — they are victors through Christ. Key King James Version passages include Romans 6:14, 1 Corinthians 15:57, 1 John 1:9. This page collects 10 KJV verses about victory over sin, each quoted in full.

Can a Christian have victory over sin?

Yes. Romans 6:14 declares 'sin shall not have dominion over you.' This doesn't mean sinless perfection, but it means sin no longer rules. Believers have the power to say no through the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16).

How do I overcome a sin I keep repeating?

Confess specifically (1 John 1:9), walk in the Spirit daily (Galatians 5:16), remove temptation sources, seek accountability, and memorize Scripture to counter specific temptations — as Jesus did in the wilderness.
