What does the Bible say about overcoming temptation?

Every believer faces temptation, but Scripture assures us that God always provides a way of escape. Jesus Himself was tempted in every way yet without sin, showing us that victory over temptation is possible through God's power. Key King James Version passages include 1 Corinthians 10:13, James 4:7, James 1:12. This page collects 10 KJV verses about overcoming temptation, each quoted in full.

Is it a sin to be tempted?

No. Temptation itself is not sin — Jesus was tempted in every way yet was without sin (Hebrews 4:15). Sin occurs when we yield to temptation and act on it. Temptation is a test; sin is the failure.

How did Jesus overcome temptation?

Jesus overcame temptation by quoting Scripture (Matthew 4:1-11), relying on the Holy Spirit, and staying aligned with the Father's will. His example shows us the power of knowing and applying God's Word.
