What does the Bible say about sin?

Sin is the universal human problem—the root of every broken relationship, every act of injustice, and every moment of suffering. But the Bible doesn't just diagnose the problem; it provides the cure. Key King James Version passages include Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, 1 John 1:8-9. This page collects 10 KJV verses about sin, each quoted in full.

What is the unforgivable sin?

Jesus spoke of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit as the unforgivable sin (Matthew 12:31-32). Most theologians understand this as a persistent, hardened rejection of the Holy Spirit's testimony about Christ—essentially refusing God's only provision for salvation. If you're concerned about having committed it, the very concern suggests you haven't.

Are all sins equal in God's eyes?

All sins separate us from God (Romans 3:23), and any sin makes us guilty before Him (James 2:10). However, Scripture suggests some sins carry greater consequences (John 19:11) and greater accountability (James 3:1). All sin is serious, but not all sin has equal earthly consequences.
