What does the Bible say about authenticity?

Jesus reserved His harshest words for hypocrites — those who wore masks of righteousness while their hearts were far from God. The Bible calls believers to authenticity: being the same person in private as in public, before God and before people. Key King James Version passages include Psalm 51:6, Matthew 23:27-28, 1 Peter 2:1. This page collects 10 KJV verses about authenticity, each quoted in full.

Why does God value authenticity?

Because God sees the heart (1 Samuel 16:7) and desires truth in the inward parts (Psalm 51:6). Hypocrisy dishonors God and damages relationships. Authentic faith creates space for genuine growth and real community.

How can I be more authentic as a Christian?

Be honest about your struggles, confess sins rather than hiding them, let your yes be yes and no be no (James 5:12), pursue integrity in private life, and worship God in spirit and truth (John 4:24).
