Big Idea
Faith is not the absence of tears; it is worship with tears on your face.
Story Summary
Job was perfect and upright, and in one day he lost his herds, his servants and all ten of his children. He fell to the ground and worshipped. Through long chapters of grief and unhelpful friends he held fast, until God answered him out of the whirlwind — and afterward blessed his latter end more than his beginning.
Memory Verse (KJV)
“The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.”
Job 1:21
Discussion Questions
- What did Job do first when he heard the terrible news?
- Job's friends sat with him seven days in silence. When is silence the kindest help?
- Did God explain to Job why it all happened?
Teacher hint: No — God showed Job Himself instead of an explanation (Job 38–41).
- What do you do with your sad days? Who can you tell?
Craft Idea: Two-Sided Weather Wheel
