    Big Idea

    The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all there at the Jordan — and the Father is pleased with His Son.

    Story Summary

    Jesus came from Galilee to Jordan to be baptized of John. John felt unworthy, but Jesus said it was right to fulfil all righteousness. As Jesus came up out of the water the heavens opened, the Spirit of God descended like a dove, and the Father's voice said, 'This is my beloved Son.'

    Craft Idea: Dove Mobile

    Supplies

    • White paper
    • Scissors
    • String
    • Blue tissue paper

    Steps

    1. Cut a simple dove shape from white paper.
    2. Glue blue tissue waves onto a card as the Jordan.
    3. Hang the dove above the water with string.
    4. Write Matthew 3:17 along the bottom.

    Lesson flow (45 minutes)

    1. Welcome (5 min): Pray, then read the memory verse aloud three times together.
    2. Story (10 min): Tell the story summary in your own words; open a KJV to Matthew 3:13–17.
    3. Discussion (10 min): Walk through the questions above. Let every child answer at least once.
    4. Craft (15 min): Make the dove mobile.
    5. Wrap-up (5 min): Hand out the worksheet to finish at home and recite the memory verse one last time.
