Jesus Blesses the Little Children: Sunday School Lesson
Mark 10:13–16
Big Idea
Jesus loves children — every one — and welcomes them into His kingdom just as they are.
Story Summary
Parents brought their little children to Jesus so He could touch and bless them. The disciples scolded the parents and tried to send them away. But Jesus was much displeased and said, 'Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.' Then He took the children up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.

Discussion Questions
- Why did the disciples try to stop the parents from bringing their children?
Teacher hint: They thought Jesus was too busy or too important for kids.
- How did Jesus feel about that?
Teacher hint: He was much displeased — He wanted the children to come!
- What did Jesus do with the children?
Teacher hint: Took them in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them (Mark 10:16).
- What does it mean that the kingdom of God belongs to people 'like' children?
Teacher hint: We come to Jesus trusting and humbly, not proud of ourselves.
- How do you know Jesus loves you, even today?
Craft Idea: Heart-in-Hands Blessing Print
Supplies
- Paper plate or card stock circle (one per child)
- Washable paint (any color)
- A red paper heart
- A Mark 10:14 label
Steps
- Help each child press their painted hands onto the paper plate so the hands face each other.
- Glue the red heart between the two hand prints.
- Stick the Mark 10:14 label underneath.
- Send it home — a reminder that Jesus holds them in His hands.
