Add a daily KJV verse to Squarespace with a Code Block

Squarespace supports the widget through its built-in Code Block, available on Business and Commerce plans. Paste the iframe and the verse appears immediately in the editor preview.

    Customize the widget

    What it looks like

Live preview of the daily verse in the paper theme. Light and dark themes are available in the builder.

The code to paste into Squarespace

<!-- Bible Sundays KJV verse widget — free, public domain -->
    <iframe src="https://www.biblesundays.com/embed/verse?mode=daily&theme=paper&via=widget" title="KJV Bible Verse — Bible Sundays" width="100%" height="240" style="border:0;max-width:560px;" loading="lazy"></iframe>
    <a href="https://www.biblesundays.com/?utm_source=widget&utm_medium=embed&utm_campaign=widget-widget" target="_blank" rel="noopener" style="display:block;margin-top:6px;font-size:12px;line-height:1.4;color:#6b7280;text-decoration:none;text-align:center;max-width:560px;">biblesundays.com</a>

Goes into a Code Block on any page, or a Code Block inside a footer section.

How to add a Bible verse to Squarespace

    1. 1

      Copy the embed code

Pick a theme on the widget builder and copy the one-line iframe.

    2. 2

      Edit your page

Open the page in the Squarespace editor and click an insert point where the verse should appear.

    3. 3

      Insert a Code Block

Search the block menu for 'Code' and add a Code Block. Make sure the block's mode is set to HTML.

    4. 4

      Paste and save

Paste the iframe, untick 'Display Source' if it is checked, then click Save.

    5. 5

      Check on mobile

Use the mobile preview toggle — the widget scales to the container width automatically.

    Squarespace specifics worth knowing

    • Code Blocks require a Squarespace Business plan or higher. Personal plans cannot embed custom HTML.
    • The editor sometimes shows a grey placeholder instead of the widget — save and view the live page to see the real verse.
    • For a full-width banner verse, put the Code Block in a section with the content width set to Full Bleed.

    Why this widget

    No plugin, no account

One line of HTML. Nothing to install, nothing to keep updated, no API key.

    No ads or trackers

The frame sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts onto your visitors.

    Public-domain KJV

Every verse is the King James Version, free to quote and republish with no licence.

    Squarespace widget questions

Which Squarespace plan do I need?

Code Blocks are available on Business, Commerce Basic and Commerce Advanced plans. Personal plans block custom HTML embeds.

Why does the widget show as a grey box in the editor?

Squarespace disables iframes inside the editing canvas. Save your changes and open the published page — the verse renders normally there.

Can I match my site's colours?

Choose the light, paper or dark theme in the builder. All three use neutral tones designed to sit inside an existing palette.
