    Feeding the Five Thousand

Jesus multiplied five loaves and two fishes to feed a crowd of more than five thousand.

    Feeding the Five Thousand

A great multitude followed Jesus into a desert place. When evening came, He took a boy's five barley loaves and two small fishes, looked to heaven, blessed them, and gave them to the disciples to distribute. All ate and were filled, and twelve baskets of fragments were taken up.

    Key KJV Scriptures

"And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude."
"And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and to them that were as much as they would."

    Spiritual Significance

This is the only miracle (besides the resurrection) recorded in all four Gospels. Jesus used it to declare, 'I am the bread of life,' linking physical bread to the deeper hunger only He satisfies.

    Lesson for Today

Bring your little to Jesus. In His hands a small offering blessed and broken becomes more than enough.
