Philippians 4:19 – Meaning & Devotional
"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
What This Verse Means
Paul promises that God will supply every need — not from a limited budget but from infinite riches in glory. The measure of God's provision isn't our need but His wealth. He gives 'according to' (in proportion to) His limitless resources.
Note the word 'need' — not 'want.' God promises to meet genuine needs, and He does so with the generosity of an infinitely wealthy Father.
Historical Context
Paul wrote this to thank the Philippians for their financial gift to him in prison. Having praised their generosity, he now assures them that God will replenish what they gave. Generous givers never outgive God.
How to Apply This Today
Trust God for your genuine needs. His supply is proportional to His riches, not your circumstances. Be generous, knowing that God replenishes those who give sacrificially.
