What does the Bible say about power of prayer?

Prayer is not a religious ritual — it's the most powerful force available to a human being. It moves the hand of God, shifts spiritual realities, heals the sick, opens prison doors, and changes the course of history. Key King James Version passages include James 5:16, Mark 11:24, Jeremiah 33:3. This page collects 10 KJV verses about power of prayer, each quoted in full.

Does prayer really change things?

Yes. James 5:16 says fervent prayer 'availeth much.' Acts 12 records prayer literally opening prison doors. 2 Chronicles 7:14 promises national healing in response to prayer. God invites prayer because He intends to respond.

Why does God sometimes not answer prayers?

God always answers — sometimes yes, sometimes no, sometimes wait. Unanswered prayer may reflect misaligned motives (James 4:3), unconfessed sin (Psalm 66:18), or God's better plan that we can't yet see.
