What does the Bible say about being content?

Contentment is countercultural. In a world that profits from your dissatisfaction, choosing to be satisfied with what God has given is an act of radical faith. Key King James Version passages include Philippians 4:11-12, 1 Timothy 6:6, Hebrews 13:5. This page collects 10 KJV verses about being content, each quoted in full.

What does biblical contentment look like?

Biblical contentment is being satisfied in God's provision regardless of circumstances. Paul demonstrated it in prison (Philippians 4:11-12). It's not apathy or laziness — it's a settled peace that God is enough.

Is it wrong to want more?

Ambition isn't sinful, but covetousness is. Hebrews 13:5 warns against it. The test is whether your desire for more controls your peace. Contentment says 'I'll work hard and trust God with the results' rather than 'I need more to be happy.'
