What does the Bible say about gratitude and thankfulness?

Gratitude is not merely good manners — it's a spiritual discipline that transforms perspective. When we choose thankfulness, anxiety loses its grip and joy fills the void. Key King James Version passages include 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Psalm 100:4, Colossians 3:15. This page collects 10 KJV verses about gratitude and thankfulness, each quoted in full.

Why is gratitude important in the Bible?

Gratitude shifts our focus from what we lack to what God has provided. Scripture commands thankfulness (1 Thessalonians 5:18) because it aligns our hearts with God's goodness and combats anxiety, bitterness, and entitlement.

How can I practice biblical gratitude daily?

Start each day by naming three specific blessings. Enter prayer with thanksgiving before requests (Psalm 100:4, Philippians 4:6). Keep a gratitude journal anchored in scripture.
