Matthew 6:33 appears in Matthew chapter 6, verse 33. Jesus spoke these words during the Sermon on the Mount, around AD 28-30. His audience included impoverished Galilean peasants who worried daily about food and clothing. Under Roman taxation and religious tithes, common people kept less than a third of their income.
