Historical Context
Paul wrote this around AD 55 to Corinthian Christians living in one of the ancient world's most morally corrupt cities. Corinth hosted temple prostitution and notorious excess. 'Ekbasis' means a way out, exit, or escape route—literally 'a stepping out.' It combines 'ek' (out of) and 'basis' (step). God doesn't just limit temptation; He engineers a specific exit strategy. The believer's job is to find it and take it.
