    Christmas Bible Questions Parents Ask

Where is the Christmas story in the Bible?

The Christmas story is told in Luke 2:1–20 (the birth of Jesus and the shepherds) and Matthew 1:18–25 and 2:1–12 (Joseph's dream and the wise men). Luke 2 is the passage most families read aloud on Christmas Eve.

How do I explain Christmas to a young child from the Bible?

Keep it to three sentences: God promised to send a Saviour, Jesus was born in Bethlehem and laid in a manger, and the angels told the shepherds He was Christ the Lord. Then read Luke 2:11 together and colour the nativity page.

Is this Advent plan really free?

Yes. Every reading, memory verse, coloring page, and quiz linked from this page is free to use at home, in Sunday school, or in a homeschool co-op. No signup or email required.

What Bible translation do you use?

All verses on this page are from the public-domain King James Version (KJV), so you can print and share them freely.

    When does Advent start?

Advent begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day and runs to Christmas Eve. This four-week plan is built around those Sundays, but you can start any four weeks before Christmas.
