Matthew 19:26 – Meaning & Devotional
"But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."
What This Verse Means
Jesus acknowledges human impossibility without flinching — then immediately declares divine possibility. Some things are genuinely impossible for humans. But nothing is impossible with God. The same God who created the universe from nothing can accomplish what no human effort can achieve.
This verse does not promise that every human wish will come true, but it affirms that God's power has no limits. What is impossible for us — transforming hearts, saving souls, overcoming death — is well within God's capability.
Historical Context
The disciples were astonished when Jesus said it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven. They asked, 'Who then can be saved?' Jesus' answer redirected their focus from human ability to divine power. Salvation is God's work, not ours.
How to Apply This Today
When you face an impossible situation, remember this verse. You may have reached the limit of your ability, but God has no limits. Pray with confidence, knowing that what seems impossible to you is possible with God.
