Introduction
Right after the rallying cry of v. 13 — watch, stand fast, be strong — Paul adds the indispensable atmosphere: do it all in love. Vigilance without love hardens; love without vigilance dissolves. The two belong together.
Historical Context
Corinth had been a church of strong convictions and weak charity. Paul devotes chapter 13 to love, and now closes the letter by making love the climate in which everything else operates.
Original Language Insights
'Charity' (agape) — sacrificial, willed love. Not feeling, but choice.
'All your things' — comprehensive scope. There is no decision, conversation, ministry, or correction outside this command.
Theological Significance
Love is not one virtue among many; it is the medium in which all other virtues become genuinely Christlike. Strip it away and even right actions go wrong.
Practical Application
Audit one decision today by asking, 'Will I do this in love?' Then do it in love, or don't do it at all.
