What does the Bible say about sabbath rest?

God Himself rested on the seventh day, not because He was tired but to establish a pattern for humanity. The Sabbath is both a gift and a command — a weekly reminder that our identity is not found in productivity but in God. Key King James Version passages include Exodus 20:8-10, Genesis 2:2-3, Mark 2:27. This page collects 10 KJV verses about sabbath rest, each quoted in full.

Do Christians need to keep the Sabbath?

Christians hold different views. Some observe a specific day of rest, while others see Jesus as the fulfillment of Sabbath rest (Hebrews 4:9-10). Most agree on the principle: regular rest and worship are essential to spiritual health.

What day is the Sabbath?

In the Old Testament, the Sabbath was the seventh day (Saturday). Many Christians worship on Sunday in honor of Christ's resurrection. The New Testament emphasizes the principle of rest rather than mandating a specific day (Colossians 2:16-17).
