What does the Bible say about provision?

From the manna in the wilderness to the multiplied loaves and fishes, Scripture overflows with testimonies of God providing for His people. 'Jehovah Jireh'—the Lord will provide—is one of God's most personal names, first revealed when He supplied a ram in place of Isaac. Key King James Version passages include Philippians 4:19, Matthew 6:31-33, Genesis 22:14. This page collects 10 KJV verses about provision, each quoted in full.

Does God promise to provide for us?

Yes. Philippians 4:19 promises God 'shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory.' Jesus taught that if God feeds the birds and clothes the flowers, He will certainly care for His children (Matthew 6:26-30). The promise is for needs, not necessarily wants, and is connected to seeking God's kingdom first.

What does Jehovah Jireh mean?

Jehovah Jireh (Genesis 22:14) means 'The Lord Will Provide.' Abraham gave this name to the place where God provided a ram to sacrifice instead of Isaac. It reveals God's character as a provider who sees needs in advance and prepares the answer before the crisis arrives.
