    Genesis 22 records the supreme test of Abraham's faith — God commands him to sacrifice his only son Isaac on Mount Moriah. Abraham rises early, travels three days, and prepares the altar without hesitation. When Isaac asks, 'Where is the lamb for a burnt offering?' Abraham answers prophetically, 'God will provide himself a lamb.'

    At the last moment, the Angel of the LORD stops Abraham's hand: 'Now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.'
