    Antichrist and the Beast

John warns of many antichrists already at work, and Revelation 13 unveils the coming beast empowered by the dragon.

    Antichrist and the Beast

John writes that 'even now are there many antichrists' (1 John 2:18) — a spirit denying the Father and the Son. Revelation 13 unveils a future climactic figure: a beast rising from the sea, given power by the dragon, demanding worship, and marking those who follow him. He is overcome by the Lamb (Revelation 17:14).

    What Scripture Teaches

    • 1Many antichrists already at work (1 John 2:18, 4:3)
    • 2The antichrist denies the Father and the Son (1 John 2:22)
    • 3The beast receives his power from the dragon (Revelation 13:2)
    • 4He blasphemes God and wars with the saints (Revelation 13:6-7)
    • 5The mark of the beast — none may buy or sell without it (Revelation 13:16-17)
    • 6The Lamb overcomes them — for He is Lord of lords (Revelation 17:14)

    Key KJV Scriptures

"Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son."
"And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist..."
"And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations."
"These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings..."

    Why It Matters

Antichrist is both a spirit at work now and a person who will appear at the end. The same Christ who exposes every counterfeit will return to destroy the final one.

    Application for Today

Test the spirits (1 John 4:1). Hold fast the confession that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. Don't be alarmed by world events — be anchored in the Lamb who has already won.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is the antichrist alive today?

Scripture says the spirit of antichrist is already in the world (1 John 4:3). Whether the climactic person is alive now is unknown — but the church is called to faithfulness in every generation.

What is the mark of the beast?

Revelation 13:16-17 describes a literal mark required for buying and selling. Christians historically have read it both literally and symbolically; either way, the warning is to refuse loyalty to anyone but Christ.
