What does the Bible say about guarding against deception?

Jesus warned that deception would be one of the hallmarks of the last days. False teachers, false prophets, and deceiving spirits are realities the church must face. Key King James Version passages include Matthew 24:4, 2 Timothy 4:3-4, 1 John 4:1. This page collects 10 KJV verses about guarding against deception, each quoted in full.

How can I avoid being deceived?

Know Scripture thoroughly (Acts 17:11), test everything against God's Word (1 John 4:1), stay connected to a sound local church, and pray for discernment. The more you know the truth, the easier it is to spot counterfeits.

Are false teachers still active today?

Yes. Jesus and the apostles warned repeatedly that false teachers would arise in every generation (2 Peter 2:1, 2 Timothy 4:3). Believers must remain vigilant and test all teaching against Scripture.
