What does the Bible say about dangers of pride?

Pride is the sin that preceded all other sins — it led to Satan's fall and humanity's rebellion. Scripture consistently warns that pride precedes destruction and that God actively opposes the proud. Key King James Version passages include Proverbs 16:18, James 4:6, Proverbs 11:2. This page collects 10 KJV verses about dangers of pride, each quoted in full.

Why is pride so dangerous?

Because it puts self on the throne where God belongs. Pride deceives the heart (Obadiah 1:3), leads to destruction (Proverbs 16:18), and causes God to actively oppose the proud person (James 4:6).

What is the difference between pride and healthy confidence?

Healthy confidence acknowledges God as the source of abilities and success. Pride takes credit for what God has given and exalts self above others and above God.
