The Resurrection of the Messiah
Psalm 16:10 — God will not leave His Holy One to corruption.
David prophesied that God would not leave the Holy One to see corruption. Peter at Pentecost demonstrated from this psalm that the empty tomb of Jesus is its only possible fulfillment.
The Prophecy
"For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption."
"...when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days...He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied..."
The Fulfillment
"Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption...This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses."
"...how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"
David's tomb is here
Peter argues sharply at Pentecost: David spoke of resurrection — but David died and his tomb was still in Jerusalem. The psalm could only fit a greater Son who rose.
