Bible Lessons for 3, 4 and 5 Year Olds
For 3 to 5 year olds, keep Bible time to about ten minutes: one short story told in your own words from the King James text, one five-word memory verse, and something to colour or act out. Repetition matters far more than variety at this age — the same six stories over a term will stick.
What ages 3–5 can handle
- •Sit still for roughly 5–10 minutes, less if they are tired
- •Repeat a five- to eight-word verse after two or three days
- •Follow a picture better than a paragraph
- •Answer 'who / what' questions, not yet 'why'
Tips that actually help
- Do it at the same time each day — after breakfast or before the bedtime story.
- One story per week, repeated, beats five stories once each.
- Let them 'read' the story back to you from the coloring page.
- Skip abstract words like 'faith' or 'grace'; say 'trusting God' and 'a gift we didn't earn'.
