Youth Ministry Resources for Pastors
Youth ministry is where most lifelong faith is either built or broken. The teenagers in your group will spend more discretionary time with their phones this week than they will with the Word for the rest of the month. The youth pastor's task is not to entertain — it is to anchor.
These resources are designed to be used in midweek youth meetings, Sunday school, lock-ins, and small-group settings. Print, hand out, and use freely.
Key KJV scriptures
1 Timothy 4:12 (KJV)
"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."
Ecclesiastes 12:1 (KJV)
"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not."
Psalm 119:9 (KJV)
"Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word."
2 Timothy 2:22 (KJV)
"Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart."
Practical pastoral guidance
Build the calendar around Scripture, not events
Pick one book of the Bible per semester. Teach through it sequentially. Build the games, the trips, and the social events around the teaching, not the other way around. Teenagers respect substance.
Read the Bible in front of them
Hold the physical Bible. Read it aloud. Let them see you turning pages. The single most powerful discipleship moment in a youth meeting is a leader publicly reading God's Word slowly, with conviction.
Memory verses that stick
Memorize one verse per month — together, out loud, every week. By age 18 a faithful student will have 50+ verses of KJV scripture memorized for life. That alone is a reason to do youth ministry.
Parents are the primary disciplers
Your job is not to replace the home; it is to reinforce it. Send weekly emails to parents telling them what you taught and what to talk about at dinner. Disciple the parents through the students.

Frequently asked questions
How do I keep teenagers off their phones during youth night?
Make the teaching better than their phones. That is the only real answer. Substance, eye contact, and asking them to actually think for themselves outcompete TikTok.
