Matthew 28:19 – Meaning & Devotional
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."
What This Verse Means
The Great Commission transforms Christianity from a local faith into a global mission. Jesus commands His followers to make disciples of all nations — not just share information but invest in transforming lives.
The Trinitarian baptismal formula reveals that new believers enter into relationship with all three persons of the Godhead simultaneously.
Historical Context
These are among Jesus' final words before His ascension. He spoke to the eleven remaining disciples on a mountain in Galilee. This command became the driving force behind the early church's explosive growth across the Roman Empire.
How to Apply This Today
The Great Commission applies to every believer, not just missionaries. Share your faith in your daily context — your neighborhood, workplace, and relationships are your mission field.
