What does the Bible say about elderly?

In a culture that worships youth, the Bible honors age. Scripture teaches that gray hair is a crown of glory, that elders deserve double honor, and that the wisdom accumulated over a lifetime of walking with God is one of the church's greatest treasures. Key King James Version passages include Proverbs 16:31, Leviticus 19:32, Psalm 92:14. This page collects 10 KJV verses about elderly, each quoted in full.

What does the Bible say about aging?

The Bible views aging positively—gray hair is called 'a crown of glory' (Proverbs 16:31), and Psalm 92:14 promises that the righteous 'shall still bring forth fruit in old age.' While the body weakens, God promises 'the inward man is renewed day by day' (2 Corinthians 4:16) and that He will carry His people even to old age (Isaiah 46:4).

How should Christians treat the elderly?

Scripture commands honoring the elderly: 'Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man' (Leviticus 19:32). This includes listening to their wisdom (Job 12:12), providing for their needs (1 Timothy 5:4), and valuing their continued contribution to the faith community (Titus 2:2-3).
