Original Sin vs. Actual Sin — What's the Difference?

Original sin is the inherited corrupt nature passed from Adam to all his descendants; actual sin is each specific transgression that flows from that nature.\n\nScripture sets out the truth plainly. Romans 5:12 declares: "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." This is the anchor of the answer.\n\nPsalm 51:5 confirms and broadens the picture: "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me."
