Holiness is set-apartness — belonging to God, distinct from the world. 1 Peter 1:16 grounds it in God's own character: 'Be ye holy; for I am holy.' It is not optional Christianity. Hebrews 12:14 warns that without holiness no one will see the Lord.\n\nThe mechanism is union with Christ (Galatians 2:20) and walking in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16). Ephesians 4 and Colossians 3 describe holiness as putting off the old and putting on the new — specific sins forsaken, specific virtues cultivated. It is daily and detailed, not vague.\n\nPractically: protect what enters your mind (Philippians 4:8); guard your tongue (Ephesians 4:29); steward your time, money, body, sexuality as gifts to God (Romans 12:1); cultivate fellowship with the holy (1 Corinthians 15:33); and pursue Christ above all (Philippians 3:8).
