How to Know God's Will for Your Life?

Romans 12:2 is the starting point: "Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." God's will is not a hidden code to be cracked; it is a revealed path to be walked. The more our minds are shaped by Scripture, the more naturally we recognise His direction. Psalm 119:105 says, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." The lamp illuminates the next step, not the entire journey. God's will is often disclosed progressively. Proverbs 3:5–6 adds trust: "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Acknowledging God in every decision — marriage, career, relocation — invites His guidance. The New Testament offers additional clarity. Colossians 3:15 says, "Let the peace of God rule in your hearts." The word "rule" (brabeuo) means "act as umpire." When options are morally equivalent, God's peace often tips the scale. The Holy Spirit bears witness within the believer (Romans 8:16), and the counsel of wise, godly believers provides external confirmation (Proverbs 15:22: "Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established"). God's will is never contrary to Scripture. It will not command what the Bible forbids, nor forbid what the Bible commands. Any "leading" that contradicts the Word is not from God. The believer's task is to stay close to the Bible, walk in obedience to what is already known, and trust God to make the next step clear in His timing.
