Holiness is set-apartness — belonging to God, distinct from the world. 1 Peter 1:16 grounds it in God's own character: 'Be ye holy; for I am holy.' It is not optional Christianity. The goal is not perfection in this life but progress, and God Himself is at work to complete it (Philippians 1:6).
