The Samaritan Woman

Her Story

She came alone at the sixth hour. Jesus crossed every barrier — Jew and Samaritan, man and woman, righteous and sinful — to ask for water and to offer 'living water... a well of water springing up into everlasting life.' He named her five husbands and the man who was not her husband. She perceived He was a prophet; she asked about true worship. He answered, 'God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.' When she said, 'I know that Messias cometh,' He answered, 'I that speak unto thee am he.' She left her waterpot, ran to the city, and many Samaritans believed because of her word — and more because of His.
