The first woman, made from Adam's side, mother of all living and recipient of the first gospel promise.
Eve, whose name means 'living,' is the first woman — made by God from Adam's rib (Genesis 2:21-22) and given to him as 'an help meet.' Her story is short, but its echoes shape every page that follows: creation, fall, and the first promise of redemption (Genesis 3:15).
Her Story
Created sinless, Eve walked with Adam in Eden until the serpent deceived her. She ate the forbidden fruit, gave it to Adam, and the human race fell. God's judgment came with mercy: pain in childbearing, but also the protevangelium — 'her seed' would crush the serpent's head (Genesis 3:15 KJV). Cast from Eden, Eve bore Cain ('I have gotten a man from the LORD'), Abel (slain by Cain), and Seth — 'For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel' (Genesis 4:25). She is the mother of every human being.

Was Eve created equal to Adam?
Genesis 1:27 says God made man 'male and female' both in His image — equal in worth and dignity. Eve was made from Adam's side as 'help meet' — a complementary partner, not a subordinate creature.
Why did Eve sin first?
1 Timothy 2:14 says she was deceived; Romans 5 places the federal headship of the fall on Adam, who sinned with eyes open. Both bore consequences, but Adam, as head, brought sin and death to the race.
What is the 'protevangelium' in Genesis 3:15?
