What the Bible says about rejection
Rejection runs through Scripture from beginning to end. Joseph is sold by his brothers, David is left in the field when Samuel comes to anoint a king, Hannah is provoked for her barrenness, and Christ Himself is 'despised and rejected of men' (Isaiah 53:3). The Bible does not minimise the wound. It does, however, refuse to let the verdict of other people stand as the final verdict on a life.
Rejected by men, chosen by God
1 Peter 2:4 sets the two side by side: a stone 'disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious'. That pairing is the heart of the biblical answer. Being passed over by a family, a church, an employer, or a person you loved is real, but it is not the same as being unwanted. The Bible's pattern is that God repeatedly builds His work out of exactly the people others set aside.
What to do with the anger rejection leaves behind
Rejection rarely arrives alone; it brings resentment with it. Joseph's story is the long answer — years of injustice, then the sentence 'ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good' (Genesis 50:20). That is not a shortcut past the hurt; Joseph wept repeatedly before he could say it. Scripture allows the grief and still calls the believer, in time, toward forgiveness rather than a life organised around the wound.
