    Numbers 20 records the death of Miriam, the crisis at Meribah, and the death of Aaron. When the people complain about lack of water, God instructs Moses to speak to the rock. Instead, Moses strikes it twice in anger, and though water flows, God tells Moses he will not enter the Promised Land.
